The IUCN SOS African Wildlife Initiative aims to halt the decline of threatened carnivores and their prey species in Africa, increasingly threatened by poaching, habitat fragmentation and human encroachment on wild habitats. The target species for this call include lions, leopards, cheetahs, African wild dogs, Ethiopian wolves, Black-footed cat, African Golden Cat , Liberian Mongoose , Crested Genet, Sokoke Dog Mongoose, Bourlon’s Genet, West African Oyan as well as bovids, equids and giraffids. Grants are open to civil society organizations, including African NGOs and international NGOs in collaboration with local partners. Working with government partners is encouraged, although governments and government-affiliated entities cannot receive grants directly. Grants range from €25 thousand to €300 thousand. SOS requires matching resources in relation to grant size. The deadline for applications (English, French) is 27 June 2021.
